ABOUT NRC
Our Mission
The National Recovery Coalition unites recovery leaders, families, and professionals to advocate for common-sense, cost-effective policies that support lasting recovery from substance use and mental health challenges. Through collaboration, education, and strategic action, we amplify community voices and advance equitable access to recovery supports that build strong, resilient communities.
Our Vision
We envision a nation where every individual and family impacted by substance use or mental health conditions has access to the full continuum of care, the dignity of recovery, and the opportunity to thrive. Together, we work to ensure recovery is not only possible, but fully supported, respected, and sustained.
SUPPORT RECOVERY.
STRENGTHEN COMMUNITIES.
Investing in recovery saves lives—and saves money.
Why Recovery Support Matters
The overdose crisis continues to affect every American community. But recovery is possible—and it works. With the right supports in place, people can return to work, rebuild relationships, and live with stability and independence. We’re calling on Congress to fully fund recovery programs that provide housing, job training, peer services, and long-term care.
Our Policy Priorities
• Fully fund community-based recovery services under the SUPPORT Act.
• Establish a 10% set-aside within the SUPTR Block Grant for recovery supports.
• Pass the PEER Support Act
• Modernize recovery systems to improve access to housing, employment, and healthcare.
• Adopt recovery-focused metrics that reflect real-life outcomes like stability and employment.
Recovery: A Smart Investment
According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, every $1 invested in addiction treatment yields up to $12 in societal savings. That includes reduced healthcare costs, lower legal system expenses, and greater productivity. People in recovery want to work and give back—we must give them the chance to do so.
Evidence-Based and Effective
Programs like Building Communities of Recovery (BCOR) show how local investments lead to national impact. Consistent funding for these initiatives is crucial to keeping families together and communities healthy.
